Unit6 I’m watching TV

Teaching aims:

1.     Knowledge aim

Students can master words and phrases like boat ,festival ,race ,miss ,wish ,study in the United States, make zongzi, Dragon Boat Festival, watch the boat races, miss his family , read a story to sb., wish to do .

2.     Ability aim

Students can talk about Chinese traditional festival-Dragon Boat Festival freely with others.

3.     Moral aim

Students can have a strong sense of our homeland’s traditional festival.

Teaching key points

    Taking about the Dragon Boat Festival and saying the time.

Teaching difficult points

Some points about present progressive tense

A tape recorder ,some pictures , Media.

Teaching procedures

Step 1 Lead in (5 min)

Ask students to watch a video made by the teacher. The teacher is eating zongzi at 9:00am in Ruijin ,while the teacher’s friend Nancy is watching TV at 9:00 p.m in New York,USA. The the teacher ask some questions.The talk may like this.

T:What is Yilia doing?

S:She is eating zongzi.

T:When is Yilia eating zongzi?

Ss: At 9:00 in the morning.

T:How about my friend Nancy?What is she doing ?and how about the time?

Ss:Nancy is watching TV at 9:00 p.m.

T:So how is the time difference between Ruijin and New York?

Ss: Ruijin is 12 hours earlier than New York.

T:What are you doing now?

Ss:We are having an English class.

T:When do we usually eat zongzi?

Ss:In Dragon Boat Festival.

Step 2 Pre-reading (5min)

Show three pictures about Dragon Boat Festival .ask students some questions.

T: What are they doing?

Ss:  They are having a boat race.

T: What are they doing?

Ss: They are watching the boat races.

T: What are they doing?

Ss: They are making zongzi.

T: Why are they doing that?

Ss: Because it’s the Dragon boat festival.

T:So they are all celebrating the Dragon boat festival

Ss: they are all celebrating the Dragon boat festival.

Step 3 While-reading(15 min)

(1)   Fast reading

 Ask students to read the passage quickly ,find out the following three questions:

1.Who is the report about?

2.Where is he studying now?

3.Is he living with his family?

.(2)Careful reading:

1.     Read the passage 1 and find out the related information such as When ,where ,who ,what questions.

(1)   When is the time?

(2)   Where is zhuhui’s family?

(3)   Where is Zhuhui?

(4)   Who does it mentioned in the zhuhui’s family?

(5)   What are zhuihui’s family doing ?

2.Read the passage 2 and find out two questions:

A.What is Zhuhui doing now?

B.What are Zhuhui’s host family doing?

3.Ask students to discuss two sentences

A.He's now studying in the United States. He's living with an American family in New York

B.It ’ s 9: 00 p. m. in New York… He is talking on the phone to his cousin in Shenzhen.

 

Step 4 Post-reading(10min)

1.Pairwork

Ask students to think about following question and discuss with your partner.

(1)   If you are Zhuhui,Can you introduce the Dragon Boat Festival to the host family and share the happiness of the festival?

(2)   How can you introduce the Dragon Boat Festival?

2.Group work

(3)   Show a mind map ,ask student to have a groupwork to try to introduce the Dragon Boat Festival from some key points like history ,zongzi ,the boat races.

Step 5 Exercise(5min)

1.Ask students to finish 2c and ask them to write out the sentences.(8 students in a group and have a competition)

2. Ask students to think about one more question: Why the writer says ‘but there’s still “no place like home”? Then teacher share one sentence: east or west ,home is the best.(金窝银窝不如自己的狗窝).and also ask students to cherish time together with their family.

Step 6 Summary & Homework(5min)

Summaryask students to make a summarize first ,then show the words or the present progressive tense.

Homework:

1).Retell the history of Quyuan in the next class.

2)Make a report for the further story that Zhuhui enjoy the Dragon boat festival in his host family.(When ,what ,where .who .ect)

本节课创设真实语境,建立文本与生活的联系,提升学生的语言能力。读后通过创设一个情景:假如你是朱辉,请你向你的寄宿家庭介绍一下端午节的来历和习俗,一起分享节日的快乐。这样,学生主动阅读传统节日端午节的欲望就会被激发出来,这样真实自然的语境也建立起补充文本和被补充文本的联系,通过思维导图的形式让学生进行思维扩散,又锻炼了学生的思维品质,最终有利于提高英语学科的核心素养。通过分组讨论并竞争,让学生进行合作学习,真正发挥学生的主体作用。
