2.掌握重点句式：(1) The Qomolangma is 8844.43meters high.(5 meters long/20 feet wide)

(2) The Sahara is about 9,600,000 square kilometers in size.

(4) China has the biggest population in the world.

(5) China is one of the oldest countries in the world.

3. 通过听、说、读、写等任务型活动，熟练应用词汇和句型。

4. 引导学生学会用比较级、最高级来比较描述事物。

1. 学会使用比较级、最高级；

2. 正确使用有关原级、比较级、最高级；

难点

1. 不规则形容词、副词的比较级、最高级形式，尤其是多音节形容词及副词；

2. 灵活运用比较级、最高级谈论自然景观。

新课导入

Step 1  Warm up with a competition

以6道知识竞答题做热身、导入。答对的同学能得到小礼物。

 (1) The first dynasty in China‘s  history?——Xia Dynasty

 (2) The longest wall in the world?——The Great Wall

 (3) The largest square in the world?——Tian’an Men Squa

Step 2.Presentation . 

Enjoy some beautiful pictures , free talk to lead in

1. 欣赏风景画面，带领学生走近美丽的自然,引导他们尝试谈论这些风景。

2.  Group work, 由小组推荐一名同学担任Mr Know-all, 用两、三句话讲述这些地方的信息。对小组做出评价。

 Step 3  Practice

将第一个要求学生掌握的描述事物大小、长宽、高低的句型通过practice 的方式，让学生练习使用。对完成优秀或有创意的学生及时肯定、表扬，对有待进步的学生加以鼓励。

 Step 4   Presentation

1. Match the facts you know. 完成1a.

2. 听录音，完成1b.

设计意图：基于此前的铺垫，学生应该能轻松地完成本环节的任务。至此，第一个知识目标得以熟练完成。

Step 5  Presentation

1. 给出图片信息，教授生单词population, Asia 及ancient.

2. 根据所提示的信息，引导学生用自己的语言进行描述。（China, the Yangtze）

Step 6  Pair work and teach another new words

运用句型1.What’s the highest mountain in the world?    2. How high is it? 进行操练。举一反三，让学生运用the Great Wall 创设情境对话，对表现突出的pairs进行表扬、评价。适时讲授另外的生词及词组。（tour, tourist, amazing, protect, wall, feel free, as far as I know ）

Step 7   Role-play

1. 听录音示范。

2. 分角色模仿朗读。进行学生自我评价和教师评价。

3. 提出对话中的重难点词组及句型，加以讲解和学生自己理解。

4. Action time交给学生自主，再次分角色朗读，鼓励对文中内容的理解有自己的生成。
