    audiotape ，a Chinese-English Dictionary，an items／tasks list，10 red pieces of paper

and 10 yellow pieces of paper，any items that you may decide to include in

the game that need to be supplied

Ⅱ、LESSON STRUCTURE（课程结构）

CLASS OPENING（开始上课）

Greeting（打招呼）

Start the lesson by welcoming my students to English class．

Introduce myself(with your English name)and write your name on the board．

Say：Hello．Welcome to English class．My name is…You can call me Ms．／Mrs．／Mr．       ( your family name)．My English name is…Greeting

    Then ask each student in the class to introduce themselves with their English name and one adjective that begin．~with the same letter as their English name．(if a student does not have an English name，help them choose one．)

Say：Please introduce yourself to the class．Tell us your English name and one word that describes you that starts with the same 1etter as your name．

Give the students an example：

Hello，class．My name is Nancy．I am nice．I am Nice Nancy．

Note：If students are having difficulty thinking of adjectives，then you may want to give them some time to look up a word in the dictionary before you continue the class introductions．

Review

    Ask the class to look at the title page for Unit 1．Ask one student to read the title(Me

and My Class)．Then ask the class to try and describe the students in thephoto．

Teacher：In this Unit we will practice describing people．Who can tell me what the word“describe’’ means?

Students：It means to give details about someone or something using words．

Teacher：That’s right．Look at the boy in the front．Can you describe him?

Students：He has blond hair.／He is wearing a red shirt.／He is smiling. He looks happy．

Teacher：Very good.  What about the girl standing in the back? Can you describe her?

Students：She has brown hair./ She is wearing a blue dress.／She is tsll./She is thin. She looks nice.

Teacher：Excellent!

Continue until all of the people in the picture have been described and

every student in the class has had a chance to speak．

Step 1：Present

 CLASS WORK：Think About It

1)      As a class，read and discuss the Think About It questions at the top of Lesson 1．You may want to write some of the students’ answers on the board．

Teacher：How do you like the first day of a new term／school year?

How does it make you feel?

Students：I love it! It makes me feel excited．／I like it, but I feel nervous on the first day of school．／I don’t like it．It makes me sad because it means summer is over．／I like the first day of schoo1．Everything is new and exciting．／I don’t like it because I have to wake up early．

Teacher：What grade are you in this year?

Students：We are in Grade 8．

Teacher：That’s right．Do you have any new subjects this year?

Do you think you will like them?

Students：Yes，I have a new subject this year．It’s physics. It looks interesting．

2)      If you have any new students in your class，ask them to tell the class about where they come from and how they feel about being in a new school．

Teacner：We have a new student in our class this year．His／Her name is…(student’S name)Would you like to tell us a little bit about where you come from?

Do you like being in a new school?

New Student：I am from××．Mv family moved here this summer. I am very excited／happy／nervous／scared to be in a new school.

Teacher：Thank you for sharing that with us．We are happy you have joined our class ．

I know you will make many new friends．Class，can we make sure we all make(new student’S name)feel welcome here?

Students：Yes!

Teacher：Wonderful．Feel free to introduce yourself to(new student’S name)after class and make a new friend．How do you introduce yourself to someone? Write introduce yourself to…and make friends on the blackboard．Students should master these

phrases．

Students：You say hello and you tell the person your name．

Teacher：That’s right．Hou can you make a new friend?    ’

Students：You introduce yourself and ask each other questions．

Teacher："Very good．Why do you ask each other questions?

Students：To learn more about each other．／To learn about each other’s interests．

Teacher：Yes! Well done．

Step 2：．Read    

CLASS／PAIR WORK：Let's Do／t，NO.1

1)      Read Lesson 1(Back to Schoo1) as a class．Ask one student at a time to read a part

from the lesson.

2)      Then have them read the dialogue in pairs and answer the questions in

Let's Do It.No．1．

3)      Discuss the answers as a class．

4)     

● Question l：Write the structure one is…and…the other is on the board．Students should master this structure．Give another example of how to use this structure．

Hold two difierent school objects in your hand and say：    ，

Teacher：Look! I have two different school objects in my hands．One is a pencil and the other is a ruler．Draw two different fruits on the board and say：

Teacher：I have drawn two difierent kinds of fruit．

One is an apple and the other is a banana．

Ask the students to give some of their own examples．They may hold up objects or draw something on the board。

● Question 3：Write the word physics on the board．Students should master this word．

Teacher：Physics is a kind of science．What do you learn about in physics?

If necessary，students answer in Chinese．Write the structure．The same as…on the board．Students should master this structure.

Teacner：Physics is a sclence and so is biology (translate“biology”if necessary)，but physics is NOT the same as biology．Can you use“not the same as”in a sentence?

Students：Chickens and pigs are both animals，but a chicken is NOT the same as a pig．／The colour red is NOT the same as the colour blue．

Teacher：Very good．Now can you tell me something that is the same as something else?

Students：My hair is black．Li Fei’s hair is also black．

My hair colour is the same as Li Fei’s hair colour．

Chen Fang’s notebook is the same as Li Lin’s notebook．

● Question 4：Write the structure，look for on the board．

Students should master this structure．

Teacher：Li Ming’s class is making a class picture．What does Li Ming need to look for?

Students：He needs to look for a picture to bring to class．

Teacher：Right．Uh oh!I think I lost my pencil．Can someone help me look for it?

Ask some students to stand up and look for the pencil．

Teacher：There it is! I found my pencil．If 1 want to look for the meaning of a word，

where should I look?

Students：You can look for the meaning ofa word in a dictionary．

Teacher：Very good．Where can I go if I want to look for a book?

Students：You can go to the library or a bookshop to look for a book．
