Lead-in Show some pictures about people to compare them

1.Show some pictures on the screen and ask : What does/do she/he/they look like ? Give Ss an example by comparing Liu Xiang and Yao Ming.

E.g. YaoMing is tall.  

    LiuXiang is short.

    LiuXiang is shorter than YaoMing.

    YaoMing is taller than LiuXiang.

2.Ask Ss to answer the other pictures.

Students listen answer  and  repeat.

通过复习图片中人物的外貌特征引入新课。

Presentation Learn the new words and new target language.

1.Ask Ss opposite to write down the opposite words according to the pictures.

2.Check the adj. Ss write and we can group them into some pairs, like: [Section A 1a]

3.Have Ss open their books and do activity1a

4. Look at the pictures in the text and ask Ss to read them together.

5.Point out the sample conversation in activity 1c.Say, now work with a partner. Make your own conversation about the twins.

Ask several pairs to say one or more of their conversations.

Students write down adj. about people and read them.

Hand out pieces of paper, first ask students to write down one of the classmates whom they want to describe, tell the class. then the whole class guess whom she / he is, at last correct answers.

通过玩游戏猜猜的方式描述同学的外貌特征,既活跃课堂学习气氛,又激发学生使用目标语言谈论自己与同学的不同之处,培养学生客观认识自己,正确评价他人的品质。

1.Work on 1b:

Listen to the recording. Ask Ss to number the twins.

2. Work on 2a:

Point out the two columns and read the headings: -er, -ier and more. Then point out the words in the box. Read them.

Say, now listen and write the -er and -ier words in the first column and the words that use more in the second column.

Play the recording and check the answers.

3. Work on 2b:

Point out the picture and the two boxes with the headings Tina is and Tara is.

Say, listen to the recording. Write word in the boxes. The words are from the list in activity 2a.Play the recording and check the answers.

4.Ask Ss to read the listening material.
