Teaching Plan：Listening & Speaking

                           --We Want a Better World

一、教材分析：
      本节课是人教版必修二 unit 4的第5个课时，即Wildlife Protection 的一节听说课。本单元以保护野生动植物为主题，增强学生环保的环保意识。在本课时，我以危害野生动植物的其中一个重要原因空气污染为主要内容，对学生进行听说训练。它要求学生听一段关于air pollution的录音，然后了解空气污染带来的危害，最后让学生讨论，给出防治空气污染的有效方法。

二、教学目标：
1. 知识目标：

（1）让学生掌握本节课的一些重要词汇和短语：protect, danger, affect, harmful, have an effect on, lead to, raise the awareness of…

（2）让学生了解空气污染的危害的相关知识及危害的表达方式。

（3）让学生了解防治污染的相关知识，及提供建议的表达方式
2. 能力目标：

（1）提高学生的听力水平。
（2）培养学生说的能力。
3. 情感目标：
    让学生认识到空气污染为人类生活带来的严重危害，能从自己的日常生活中防治空气污染及保护环境。

四、教学重点和难点：
 1. 教学重点：
（1）掌握本节课的重要词汇和短语。
（2）如何从听力录音中获取有效信息。

 2. 教学难点：
    如何让学生运用所学的词汇和短语去描述空气污染的危害，及提出有效的防治措施
 五、教学过程：
 Step1 Lead-in 
   Show the Ss two pictures about the heated argument about whether we should build the second stage of Heyuan Electric Power Factory.
Q1: Do you know the event in the picture?

Q2: Do you know why people are strongly against the building of Electric Power Factory?

通过展示两张河源市民为反对建造河源二期发电站的游行图片，引发学生思考，为什么河源市民如此激烈的反对二期电厂的兴建，从而引出本课主题-air pollution空气污染。并使学生思考，空气污染给我们人类生活带来的危害。

Step 2 Listening

 Ask the Ss to listen to the radio and fill in the blanks of the passage.     

 The World Health Organization says ________________is now the world's single-largest environmental health risk. A new report from the WHO says nearly ____________people died in 2012 because of air pollution. That is more than ___________ as many as the number in 2008.

Air pollution is an ___________problem. The World Health Organization says _________ people __________air pollution, from both inside buildings and outside. It says new information shows air pollution is partly to blame for people dying _________________ from heart disease or stroke. It says other causes of death include ____________ and or long-term diseases of the lungs and breathing passages.

         本步骤的设计主要通过听力训练，让学生获取更多关于空气污染带来的危害的相关知识，在提高英语能力的同时能满足情感目标。本听力练习选自BBC 慢速英语，难度适中，学生容易找出关键信息。听力练习的内容主要为空气污染给我们生活带来的危害，篇章挖空部分缺失单词主要为一些关键信息，突出空气污染带来危害的严重性。

Step 3 Listening  

Show the Ss a video clip about air pollution, and ask the Ss to pay attention to the following figures shown in the video clip.

l  33% of Chinapeople live in such polluted cities that the air they breathe is equivalent to smoking 2 packs of cigarettes per day.

l  Globally, an estimated 200,000 to 570,000 die each year from ambient air pollution.

l  InChina’s 14 largest cities alone, air pollution is responsible for the deaths of 50,000 newborns each year.

        由于环境污染为当今社会的热点问题之一，这活动的设置主要让学生进一步加深对空气污染带来危害的认识，通过录像中所使用的数据来说明空气污染的严峻性，为下一步骤关于给出防治污染做出铺垫。在录像中出现较多的英语表达，有利于学生记录有关危害的相关表达方式。

Step 4 Speaking  
   Ask Ss to read the short passage in the worksheet, and then sum up the useful ways to solve the air pollution by using the given sentence structures for suggestion.

1.     Tips for useful way to solve the air pollution :

l  Take public transport

l  Walk or use the bike!

l  Go for local produce!

l  Save electricity!

2.     Useful sentences for suggestion:

l  It would be a good idea ….

该部分的设计主要为学生的speaking部分输入知识，根据文段中所提及的减少空气污染的有效做法，学生能积累更多防止污染的方法。同时，让学生能够根据给出的提供建议的表达方式进行一个简单的训练，为下一步的小组讨论做出铺垫。

 Step 5 Discussion

1.        Ask Ss to discuss the following question in groups of 4 or 6 .

– As a student, what can we do to fight against air pollution?    

2.        Ask Ss to share their ideas with the whole class.     

[设计说明]
         在上一步骤中学生已掌握建议的表达方式，因此本活动的设计目的在于让学生发散思维，思考一下，作为学生的自己，能够做些什么来减少空气的污染 ，并能在实际生活起到有效作用。同时，让学生能够在讨论过程当中，使用表达建议的相关方式，提高其口语表达能力，同时能掌握建议的表达。                

Step 6 Conclusion

Ask Ss to do from now on to protect the environment and try their best to reduce the air pollution. A video clip made by Ss will be shown in order to call on more people to join us to protect the environment.

         本部分为我该课时的特色所在。内容主要是由学生本人照片所制作的小视频，呼吁更多的人加入到关注空气污染，保护环境的行动中。这是情感目标的补充，要求学生在掌握知识的同时，需关注社会，关注地球，培养环保意识。
         

Step 7  Homework 
         Ask the Ss form a group of 4 and make a poster based on the topic of Air pollution.

(Their posters may include the cause of air pollution, the harmful effect and solution of it)

         该环节旨在培养学生的书面表达能力和英语综合运用能力,并提高学生的合作精神。
