作业一】结合本次培训的具体内容,体现自己在本次培训中的学习感悟、培训心得以及培训收获(如有将培训所学知识应用于日常工作中相关实践的经历,最好在总结中引用实际事例加以说明)。

1.  Warm-up questions

a)    What is an epidemic? 

b)    Causes of epidemics: viruses or bacteiria

c)    Which of the following diseases are epidemics?

1.    Look at some terrible pictures related to deaths and exchange opinions.

2.  Discussion

a) What may lead to so many deaths in human world?

(wars, hunger, diseases, epidemics, poison, nuclear bombs,etc)

b) Which one may be the most terrible killer?  Why?

Because epidemics can cause more deaths than anything else without any weapons.

Step 3: Before-Reading

 

Instruct students to brainstorm and guess the words’ meaning through context

1.Word Power (Task 1)

Guess the words’ meanings and pick up the right one through the context.

2. Predict the main idea from the title. (Task 2)

B.    A lot of epidemics happened in history.

Reading strategies: Sequencing of information by means of examples

 

 

1.    Reading strategies: Sequencing of information

2.    Find out the related epidemics in the text. (Task 3)

Scan the text and get a general idea through clues.

a)    Scan the text to find out how the passage develop.

 (In order of time )

b)    Ask the Ss to find out the 5 numbers in the text and the related facts about them by showing them an example first.

c)    Find out some basic information about epidemics in history and fill in the form (Pair work) (Task 4)

4.  Figure out the development of the text. (Sequencing of information)

a)    Read the whole text and match the five paragraph(A-E) with gaps 3,5,8,10 and 12 in the text. (Task 5)

b)    Do the supplementary reading for sequencing of the information. (Task 6)

Instruct the students to retell the text.

Fill in the blanks and put the sentences into the right order for retelling the whole text. (Task 7)
