重难点】掌握过去进行时的结构及用法

过去进行时的构成形式为:主语+was/were+doing+其他

过去进行时的用法可总结如下:

用法

过去进行时可以表示某一时刻或某一时间段正在进行的动作。

结构

was/were+doing

时间状语

 when/whilethen, at that time等。

一.Alice was sitting with her sister by the river .  爱丽丝和她姐姐正坐在河边

句型:“主语+was/were+doing+其他”是过去进行时的构成形式,表示过去进行时可以表示某一时刻或某一时间段正在进行的动作。如:

 1. -- 你昨天晚上8点的时候正在做什么?---我正在读书。

二. It’s about a girl calledAlice.   它是关于一个叫爱丽丝的女孩的故事。

句中的called Alice是过去分词短语做后置定语,修饰前面的girl,意为“名叫爱丽丝的女孩”。

拓展:过去分词(短语)做定语,与其修饰的词之间存在着逻辑上的被动关系,且表示该动作已经完成。单个的过去分词做定语,通常置于被修饰词的前面,而过去分词短语做定语,则需置于被修饰词之后。

如:There are cleaning the fallen leaves in the yard.  他们正在院子里打扫落叶

    I have been to a place calledKunming.  我去过一个名叫昆明的地方。

即学即练1用所给词的适当形式填空: That boy ______(call) Tom is our monitor.

2按要求完成句子 Her name is Betty. She is a clever girl.

                She is a clever girl ______ Betty.

三、 and fell down a hole in the ground  ....... 掉入了地面上的一个洞里。

   fall down 表示“跌倒,摔倒”,指某人或某物从高处落到了低处。

  The old man fell down in the street and broke his leg.

          那位老人跌倒在街上,摔坏了腿。

拓展】与fall相关的短语

  1. fall over强调的是“向前摔倒,跌倒”

    She fell over and broke her arm. 她跌倒了并把胳膊摔断了。

  2. fall down 意为“倒塌,掉下,滑倒,倒下”,后接宾语时应加上介词from

   The boy hit the tree and fell down. 男孩撞在树上,倒下了。

 3. fall off 强调“跌落,从……掉下来”,后直接跟宾语。

  The girl is falling off the bike.= The girl is falling down from the bike .  那女孩正从自行车上摔下来。
