教材分析

“读与说”(Reading and speaking)部分介绍了一个出售特殊礼物、帮助发展中国家的网页。“听与说”(Listening and speaking)部分通过记者对一个无国界医生志愿者的采访,让学生更多地了解发展中国家和志愿者活动。

学情分析

1. 学生已有知识和经验:学生在日常生活中对志愿者活动有所了解,但对国外的志愿者活动和有关的网站较陌生,学生缺乏对志愿者活动有关话题的英语词汇表达积累,阅读能力和听力有待提高。

2. 学生学习方法和技巧:学会运用多种阅读技巧浏览、精读和信息匹配等,提高阅读能力。能听懂采访的大意和关键信息并进行话题讨论。

3. 学生个性发展和群体提高:积极思考问题,探讨问题,开阔视野,通过添加礼物的活动培养创造性思维。学会小组合作,积极发表看法,共同解决问题,培养团队精神。通过竞赛活动培养竞争精神。                    

 教学目标

1. 知识与技能:能使用有关帮助弱者、志愿服务、合作共享的词汇和表达。能掌握阅读文章结构、大意和关键细节。能听懂有关话题对话并进行话题讨论。

2. 文化与策略:通过学习课文、听采访等,了解到世界上很多地方特别是一些发展中国家依然很落后,知道有一些网站和国际组织的扶贫救困活动。

3. 情感与态度:懂得同情,学会分享。知道能通过各种渠道力所能及地帮助贫困地区的人们,培养学生扶贫救困的爱心和社会责任感,同时也感受到志愿者的苦与乐。

教学重点和难点

 Using Language是对Reading的延伸。通过阅读,参与“Give an unusual gift”的活动。  Listening and speaking通过听Mary Murray作为MSF的一个医生志愿者的工作经历这一话题展开讨论活动。教学重点是掌握有关志愿者活动、扶贫济困话题的英语口语表达和听力练习的完成。教学难点是个别长难的单词和句子对阅读理解和听力有影响,如何展开讨论活动。

教学过程

Step 1 Lead-in3mins

Lead in the topic of volunteers by asking the students the following question:

Lead in the topic of Reading by asking the following question:

Step 3 Reading10 mins

I.       Introduce a website http://www.tear.org.au.

II.    Skimming: Glance through the Internet page “The World’s Most Useful

Gift Catalogue”and find out the three parts of it.

III. Careful reading:

1. A brief introduction.

2. An attractive card

3. A gift catalogue

    4. Matching exercises:

      In pairs, write the correct gift (A to U)from the Internet page next to each description on Page35 of their textbooks.

Step 4 Speaking7 mins

Ask the students to add three more gifts that they think might be important for

people in need. Discuss their choices in a group and give some reasons for their choices. Ask Ss to share their ideas in class.

    Encourage the students to think creatively.

Step 5 Listening6 mins

I. Lead-in

Introduce an international organization “Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF)”

II. Listening

1.      Go through the questions before listening.

Choose the correct answers while listening.

Step 6 Speaking3 mins

  1. Ask the students to discuss the following question:

Step 7 Play a game “Lucky gift” 5 mins

  There are nine gifts (A-I) for the students to choose from. Inside each gift box there is a question. If the student get the correct answer, they can get the points of that gift. There is no question in one of the gifts whick is called the lucky gift.

  Sum up the lesson by reading a passage about the contributions and benefits of volunteers.

Step 9 Homework1 mins

1. Write a passage about the opinions about being a volunteer.

  2. Find more information about the Gift Catalogue on the Internet.

这节课教师能很好地完成教学目标。教师能根据教材内容和学生的实际情况,巧妙设计,科学利用各种教学方法,教学步骤环环相扣,课堂内容丰富,紧凑高效,学生运用语言的能力得到了提高。教师能适时鼓励与引导生,调动学生课堂活跃性。通过创设情景和任务,让学生深入思考,积极发言。组织小组讨论和引入游戏模式,使课堂充满了活力。由于课堂时间有限,教师可以创设更多的活动把学习延伸到课外。
