一、教学目标：

1. 知识与技能：能使用有关急救的词汇和表达。能掌握阅读新闻报道文章的技巧并进行讨论。能阅读理解急救知识和措施的篇章并能说出如何实施急救。

2. 文化与策略：了解中外一些急救常识。通过阅读培养逻辑思维和批判性思维。通过小组活动学会合作学习。

3. 情感与态度：学习课文中主人翁的机智和勇敢。意识到学习急救知识和技巧的重要性。

二、学情分析

1. 学生已有知识和经验：学生有一定的急救常识，但其中有些急救措施是错误的。学生缺乏对有关急救的英语词汇表达的积累。学生阅读新闻报道文章的技巧有待提高。学生较少阅读有关急救的英语真实材料。学生在表达如何实施急救方面有困难。

2. 学生学习方法和技巧：学生要学会快速阅读新闻报道的技巧和培养对故事情节从新排序的逻辑思维能力。能阅读理解英文网站上经节选的急救知识材料。

3. 学生个性发展和群体提高：通过阅读和讨论培养逻辑思维能力和批判性思维能力。能够通过小组合作学习完成阅读和讲解急救知识的任务，培养沟通合作能力。通过小组竞赛活动培养竞争精神。

三、重点难点

1. 教材内容的地位、作用与意义：“语言运用”（Using Language）阅读和讨论部分是个新闻报道，17岁的约翰.詹森采取果断的急救措施，挽救了安.思莱德的生命。拓展阅读“First aid skills”是从美国红十字会网站节选下来的急救小知识和技巧，是本单元主题阅读的有益补充。

2. 教材的编排特点、重点和难点：本课阅读材料是由一篇Using Language里的新闻报道、和四篇原文改编的急救技巧文章构成。教学重点是学生能使用有关急救的词汇和表达。学生能掌握阅读新闻报道的技巧。学生能阅读有关急救知识和措施的文章。教学难点是学生能使用恰当的词汇和表达来谈论如何实施急救。

四、教学过程：

Step 1: Lead-in (1min)

Questions:

What is first aid?

Why is first aid important?

Step 2: Word preview(3mins):

Learn some words about first aid.

Step 3: Pre-reading(1min)

What's the title of the passage? Guess what is the passage about?

Step 4: Read for gist.(2mins)

Find out the 5Ws from the first paragraph and get the main idea of the passage.

Step 5: Read for details.

1. Read the passage carefully and put the events in the order that they happened. (2mins)

___ The attacker ran away.

___ Anne was attacked and started to scream.

___ John performed first aid on Anne.

___ John was studying in his house.

___ The ambulance arrived.

___ John ran outside with his father.

___ John found Anne in her garden with terrible knife wounds.

2. Answer the following questions.(4mins)

  1) What happened to Anne?

  2) What first aid did John perform on Anne?

  3) Where did John learn the first aid?

  4) What do we learn from the story?

Step 6: Do a first aid quiz. (5mins)

  1) Learners do a first aid quiz on the worksheet individually.

  2) Learners discuss the answers in pairs.

  3) Teacher collects the answers and give more explanantions.

Step7: Further reading in groups

  1) Each group reads one of the four passages of first aid skills carefully and list the treatments with the help of the pictures.(2mins)

  2) Group discussion: Prepare a first aid instruction for the situation. (5mins)
