2. What are you going to be? ; What do you hope to be?

What are you going to be when you grow up/ when you are older?

What do you hope to be when you grow up/when you are older?

Procedure:

Step1. Look at pictures and learn new words.

Step2. Brainstorming:

    Step3. Read and answer some questions.

1.       What does Danny want to be when he grows up?

2.       What does Jenny hope to be when she is older?

Step4. Make up a dialogue

-          What is your father/mother?

-          He/She is a/an … .

-          What are you going to be when you grow up?

-          I want to be a/an … when I’m older.

-          How about you?

-          I hope to be a/an … .

    Step5. Group work (Discuss your ambitions with your mates in a group making up of 5-6 students.)

    Step6. Make a survey (collect some information about your classmates’ ambitions, then fill the chart.)

    Step7. Homework

         Write a short passage about your own ambition using the following sentences as your guide.

1.       I want to be a/an … when I’m older.

2.       I hope to be a/an … when I grow up.
