教材分析:

本单元是本册书的第8个单元,全单元围绕宠物展开话题,让学生了解宠物的世界,让他们知道各种动物的特征及各个动物之间的区别。全单元通过听、说、读、写各方面展开学习任务。让学生通过一个单元的学习,能够善于观察周围的小动物,了解小动物的外貌特征和生活特性,能用自己的语言描述自己的宠物或自己喜爱的小动物。

教学方法:

通过多媒体课件为学生创设教学情境,让学生在轻松的环境中掌握知识、运用知识。

教学内容

一、教学目标

1. Aims of basic knowledge

1)词汇

pet mouse mice knee hold feed teach goldfish parrot

2)词组

play with,  feed sb sth,  watch sb do sth,  teach sb sth,  sleep on one’s knee

3)句型

I like watching them swim around.

I want to teach it to speak.

2. Aims of abilities

1To introduce the world of pets to students.

2To identify names of animals and typical features.

3To understand differences in animal features.

3. Aims of emotion

According to the text, the student can like animals and like English.

二、教学重、难点。

重点:To master the words, phrases and sentences.

难点:To understand differences in animal features.

四、教学过程

Step1 Lead in

Play a video about animals.

Do you know these animals?

Can you tell me the names of animals?

( 教学设计说明:通过动画的导入,激发学生的课堂兴趣。并且通过动画和学生一起回忆学过的动物名称,自然过渡到今天的话题-Pets)

Step2 Presentation

Show some pictures. (goldfish ,dog ,cat, parrot,, rabbit , mouse )

T: What is it?

S: It’s …

       T: Which animal do you like best?

       S:I like …best.

      (教学设计说明:通过图片,呈现本节课的生词:parrot ,rabbit)

      Step3 Practice

      1. Work in pairs.

      T: Do you like …?

      S:I like …  .

      T: Which animal do you like best?

      S :I like …best.

T: Do you want to keep it as a pet?

S: Yes/No.

(教学设计说明:让学生互相交流,巩固已学的词汇及句型,了解互相的喜好。)

2. Show pictures of animals. Ask students to say the names of animals.

(教学设计说明:再次巩固学生对动物名称的掌握。)

3. Play a game.

(1) Guess what the animal is.

He is friendly to people.

He can help people keep doors.

He is  good at English, I always shout ‘One! One! One!’

What is it? (dog)

(教学设计说明:通过游戏,呈现动物的特征。)

(2) Show some pictures (dog parrot …) and introduce it.

(教学设计说明:呈现更多动物特征。)

4. Work in pairs. (Use the following conversation as a model)

Millie: What is your favourite pet?

   Amy: I really like cats.

   Millie: Why?

   Amy: Because they are very friendly.

   Millie: What about dogs?

   Amy: I like dogs too, but I don’t like fish.

   Millie: Why not?

   Amy: They all look the same.

(教学设计说明:刚才已经对动物的特征进行了描述,通过这个对话能巩固学生对动物特征的掌握)

5. Do exercises: Fill in the sentences.

1. I like my _____ because it can sing.  I want to _____ it to _____.

2. I like my _____ because it’s very small and ___ and I can ____ it in my hand.

3. I like my _______ because I like watching it _________ ______.

Step4 Listening

T:Eddie also has a pet –Hobo. Listen to their conversation and answer the following questions:

1.) What time is it now?

    It’s 12.30.

2.) What does Eddie ask Hobo to do?

    He asks Hobo to bring his lunch.

3.) Does Eddie think Hobo is a good pet?

    NO, He doesn’t.

Step5 Practice

在小组里做一个小调查,看你的同学喜爱什么样的宠物,并描述她(他)宠物的特征,不少于2种不同的宠物,然后向老师同学们汇报。

e.g.

A: Tom’s favourite pet is a dog, it is very friendly .It looks big and strong. Neil’s ………

Step6 Homework

Learn more words about the activities of different animals. Present them next class.

五、教学反思

    学生对小动物很感兴趣,能够说出自己喜欢动物的名称。也能使用简单的对话互相描述自己喜爱的小动物,但学生的词汇量不足,要求课后查字典或查资料来描述自己喜爱的宠物。
