Unit8 Natural disasters Reading(1)教案

Step one: lead in

     1. T: Good morning,boys and girls.Today let us play a guessing game to relax. Please look at these pictures . What natural disasters are they?

     2. T: We all know natural disasters are sometimes unavoidable .They can destroy our homes , or kill many people. Now I am going to show you a part of the movie < Tangshan Earthquake> by Fen Xiaogang .Please tell me what you can see in the video.

Step two: Presentation

    1.T:  What can you see in the video?

      (板书) We can see some houses shaking

             We can see some people screaming in fear.

             We can see some people running in all directions.

             Some people were trapped under the bricks and stones

   2.Show the new words .

   3.The students read after the teacher.

   4.Finish off the exercise in Part B1 on P95.

   5: T: An earthquake is what happens when two blocks of the earth suddenly slip past one another. A powerful earthquake struck Taiwan on 21st Sept in 1999.12000 buildings fell down .100000 people became homeless.Over 1700 people died. A boy called Timmy survived .Now let us listen to the story to see what happened to him.

Step three: Practice

   1:Finish off the exercise in part B2 on P95.

   2: Answer the question : What saved Timmy's life?

   3.Read the paragraph one and two ,then fill in the table.

     (When the earthquake came , what did Timmy feel 、hear、see and do? )

   4.Invite two students read para3 and 4 with their own feelings  and  underline what Timmy did to save himself.

    5.Timmy was trapped . He started to pull himself slowly through the dark.Did he save himself? Did he get other's help?Please read Para5 by yourselves,then answer some questions.

    6.Finish off the exercises in Part B3 and B4 and check the answers,

Step four: Game

   Group them into four groups . In each group ,one will be an interviewer. Another will be Timmy.Please have an interview with Timmy about his experience.

Step Five: Summary

   1.Answer the question: What saved Timmy?

   (板书:) cleverness +other's = bright

            bravery  + other's  = daylight

   2.Suppose there will be an earthquake what should we do to keep ourselves safe?If we are at school /at home or on a road,what shall we do ?Please watch a video,then discuss with your group members.

   3.课件呈现:(Please remember: In face of disasters.calm、courage and faith are the most important .)

Step six: Homework

   1.Please read the story fluently.

   2.Please underline the important words phrases and sentences and pay attention to the usage of them.
