Unit 4  Let’s have some fruit.

Teaching aims:

1. Improve the students reading and speaking ability;

2. Master four words: fruit(s), grape(s), banana(s), orange(s);

3. Grasp the useful expression by using them in the dialogue:

  May I have...?

  Have..., please.

  I like/dont like...

Teaching important and difficult points

How to express ones ideas freely, using the expression in the text.

Teaching methods:

1.TPR methods;

2. Discussion methods;

3. Pair work.

Teaching Procedures:

Step1 Greetings

T: Good morning, boys and girls.

Ss:Good morning, teacher.

Step2 Warming up

1. Sing an English song together ( You are my sunshine. )

2. Ask some questions:

  T: Do you like fruit?

Ss: Yes, we do.

T: Whats your favourite fruit?

Ss: My favourite fruit is...(The teacher show pictures)

Step3 Presentation and Practice

1. Learn the new words.

      Start by using slides so that students review some of words.

      Use the slides to show the new words, after reading, students can speak them correctly and loudly.

      Play a funny game to grasp the key words. ( Fruit Slice )

2. Learn the dialogues.

      First, show the picture fruit

      Drill: Lets have some fruit. ( Great!

      Next, show the picture grape

      Drill: May I have some grapes? (Sure./ Of course.)

      Third, show the picture banana

      Drill: Have some bananas, please. They are sweet. ( Mmmh! )

      Forth, show the picture orange 

      Drill: Have an orange. ( I dont like oranges.)

Step4 Consolidation

Teacher give the information to students to make their own dialogues with their partners. Then, ask some pairs to act out their dialogues.

( Role Play )

For example:

A: Lets have some fruits.

B: Great! May I have some grapes?

A:Sure.

A: Have some bananas, please. They are sweet.

B: Mmmh! I like bananas!

A: Have an orange.

B: I dont like oranges. I like grapes.

Step5 Summary

Summarize the key words and sentences about fruits in this class.

( Fruit rhymes )

Teaching Reflection

In this class, students can use the simple sentences to talk about their real minds. But due to the difference of individual student, there still have some question that we should think about. The first one is how to improve the students ability of English speaking. The second one is how to organize good students to help non-confident students effectively.
