         Unit 5   Do you want to watch a game show?

一、教学内容:Section B 阅读(2b-2e

二、教学目标

1. 语言知识目标:

(1)掌握以下单词:Cartoon, culture, famous, appear, become, reason, common, film, girlfriend, character

(2)掌握短语:American culture, over 80 years ago, in the 1930s, show…love for, action movie, scary movie, do a good job, dress up

(3)掌握句型:One of the main reasons is that…; However, he was always ready to try his best; Who has a pair of ears more famous than Mickey’s?

2. 语言技能目标:

(1)了解美国文化中米老鼠的来源与发展。

(2)通过完成阅读练习,掌握略读与扫读的策略。

3. 情感态度价值观目标:

通过认识美国文化中的米老鼠形象,思考能代表中国文化的卡通形象,培养学生的民族自豪感。

二、教学重难点

1. 教学重点:

(1)重点单词的用法:meaningless, enjoyable, become, rich, etc.

(2)学会按时间顺序描述故事。

2. 教学难点:

能够根据时间线复述米老鼠这个卡通形象的出现过程。

三,教学过程

Step1   Warm-up

(1) Show students some pictures of cartoon.

(2) Discussion: What is your favorite cartoon character? Why?

Step2   Pre-reading

(1) T: Have you been to Disneyland? If not, do you plan to go there? Why?

(2) The teacher shows a picture of Disneyland in Shanghai.

The teacher then gives some key words about Walt Disney and invites a student to make it a short passage.

Step3   While reading

(1) Fast reading

Let Ss read the passage and complete the time line on Page 38:

Steamboat Willie came out in New York: _______.

________________________________ in 1930s.

_________________________________ on November 18, 1978.

Check the answers with the class.

(2) Careful reading

Let Ss read the passage again and fill in the facts about Mickey.

a. What does he look like?

b. Who created him?

c. What was his first cartoon?

d. Who is his girlfriend?

e. Why is he popular?

(3) Lead Ss understand the main idea of this passage. Pay attention to the time line and activities.

Step4    Group work

Invite Ss to work in groups of four and discuss the following questions:

(1) What is Mickey Mouse a symbol of? What cartoon character is a symbol of Chinese culture?

(2) Do you think Walt Disney is a smart man? Why or why not? Do you want to be like him?

(3) Why did people want to be like Mickey? Do you want to be like Mickey? Why or why not?

(4) Can you think of another cartoon character that is as famous as Mickey? Why is the character popular?

Step 5    Homework

(1) Write you own sentences or questions by using the following phrases: think of, come out, one of the main reasons, such as, was ready to, try his best.

(2) Underline the language points in this passage.

四、教学反思

    本节课为阅读课,基本流程分为读前活动-读中活动-读后活动。阅读内容为学生感兴趣的迪士尼卡通人物——米奇,生词较少,常见的短语也能根据上下文猜测词义。通过快速阅读和仔细阅读,培养了学生的阅读策略。不足之处在于活动形式有些单一,如果能多一些互动或游戏环节,则会更加完善。
