Module 3 My school
Unit 2 The library is on the left of the library.
1.Teaching aims
1)knowledge aims:
Ss can understand, read and write the new words of the unit.
Ss can read and identify places from descriptions.
2)capability aims:
Ss can describe pictures of places, using prepositions correctly.
3)emotional aims:
Ss can have more understanding of their school and love it.
Ss ‘critical thinking ability can be developed by designing a map of their ideal school.

Daming is on my right.

1) Lead-in
T: Good morning, class.
Ss: Good morning, Miss Wang.
T: Now please turn to Ps12 and look at the boy. Who is this?
Ss: Daming.
T: Yes, it’s Daming. Today let’s go to visit Daming’s school. Are you happy?
Ss: Yes, I am happy.
T: Very good. First, let’s get to know the buildings in his school. Now please turn to Page 16 and look at part 1. There are some pictures of the buildings in Daming’s school. In the box there are some words. Now please label the pictures with the words. You only have one minute to finish it.
a. Ss finish part 1 and T checks the answers on PPT. And then Ss read the vocabulary after T.
b. T shows the following expressions on PPT. Ss read after T.

2) Presentation and practice
a.presentation
T: Now, class. Please look at me. Where am I? (T is standing in front of a desk now)
Ss: You are in front of the desk.
T: Yes, I am in front of the desk. Then where is the desk?
Ss: It’s behind you.
T: Yes, it’s behind me.
T: Where am I? (T moves and is standing on the left of the desk.)
Ss: You are on the left of the desk.
T: Good, I am on the left of the desk. Then where is the desk?
Ss: It’s on your right.
T: Great, it’s on my right.

(T presents the left expressions like this. In the process, when Ss can’t answer the questionsT puts forward, T should give the answer on time.)
b. practice
T: class, now can you understand the expressions? (Pointing at the expressions on PPT) Yes? Very good. Now let’s play a game. I need three Ss to come here. Who’d like to?
T asks the three Ss to stand behind the desk and shows three chalk boxes to Ss.
T: What’s this? It’s a box, a chalk box. (Pointing a chalk box) Now listen to me carefully. I say, you do. Understand? Put the chalk in the box. Put it in front of the box. Put it behind the box. Put it on the left of the box. Put it on the right of the box.

c. Ss finish part2 and T checks the answers.
3) Reading
T: After visiting Betty’s classroom, let’s visit Betty’s school. Are you happy?
Ss: Yes.
T: OK, then please listen to the tape and answer the two questions. One is “How many buildings are there in the school?” The other is “where is the playground?”
a. Ss listen to the tape and answer the two questions. T shows the answers to the questions on PPT.
b. T asks Ss to read the passage and answer the questions in the book.
T: Now, please look at the pictures here (pointing at the picture in Page 17). OK, here are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. Please read the passage, finish the blank and answer the five questions here. Are you clear?
(When Ss are reading the passage, T shows the important information on PPT to help Ss understand the passage).
c. T checks the answers.
4) Writing
T has Ss observe the sentences in part 5 and finish the blank of three sentences. And then T checks the answers.
5) Homework
Ss write a passage to describe their school. If they are not satisfied with their school, they can draw a map of their ideal school and describe it.
