Reading & Speaking

一、Analysis of students

    They have a poor vocabulary and their reading and speaking ability are also terrible. So in the teaching process, the teacher needs to guide them to finish the task. On the other hand, they are familiar with this topic My New Teachers, so they may be enthusiastic to take part in teaching activities.

二、Teaching Objectives

1. Knowledge Objectives

By the end of the class, students should be able to

get the main idea as well as some details of the passage

understand some new words and phrases in this passage

2. Ability Objectives

By the end of the class, Ss should be able to

use reading skills to finish one passage

describe their teachers with target language

we should respect our teachers and work with them to improve our study

六、Teaching Procedures

Step 1: lead-in

1. lead-in by one question: whats your first impression of me?

2. Task assignment: help the teacher to finish the teachers information table.

Step 2: Pre-reading

1. Brain-stroming

       How could we describe our teachers?

2. check the words on P13

       Frist, Ss practice by themselves and then check together.

3. Prediction

       How would the author describe his three teachers?

       What are the three teachers teaching subjects?

Step 3: while-Reading

1. Skimming

       Let Ss look through quickly and finish the task

find the descriptive words of each teacher

2. Scanning

   Ss read the passage again and answer questions, and then check the answers together

3. Careful reading

  complete the summary

  Ss read the text carefully to find some details and use the words given to complete the summary of the passage

Step 4: post-reading

1. Summarize

Which aspects did the author mention while describing his teachers

2. Finish the task

  Each group draw a picture of one of their teachers and describe him or her, and other students guess who is she or he according to the description

3. Homework assignment

  Write a short passage to describe one of your teachers from following tips:

分析:这份教案是设计的本学期高中必修一module2 my new teachers reading部分的教案。在我任教的学校里学生的英语基础非常差词汇量薄弱平时也几乎没有开口说的机会,很多同学对于英语学习没有兴趣也对自己学习英语没有信心。因此在这篇阅读的教学当中我主要强调趣味性阅读提高同学们对英语学习的积极性同时也鼓励大家开口说不要害怕犯错,在说的过程中不断的鼓励学生引导学生,提升他们学习英语的信心。

在本环节的教学中我采取了任务型教学法,文章的主题是我的新老师,刚好与刚进入高一的同学有一定的关联,他们也刚进入这个学校每个老师对他们而言都是新老师,因此文章的主题很贴切。同时我采用任务型教学法让同学们帮助我完成一个教师信息表,需要他们将本班的任课老师信息填到表上,也就是介绍描述一下他们的老师,给他们制定了一个明确的学习任务。在阅读过程中我带领大家使用阅读技巧完成对整篇文章的理解,使他们对阅读技巧的使用有一个更好的理解。除此之外,教学的最后一个环节是speaking,让学生们以小组为单位画一张老师的图片,然后对这个老师进行描述其他的同学通过描述猜测到底是哪一位老师。这个环节主要是鼓励大家开口说并且将我们在文章李学到的词汇进行一个运用,同时这个环节也比较有趣,以小组为单位尽可能的让每个同学都参与进来。
