Unit 8 How do you make a banana milk shake?

Period 1  (Section A 1a–2d)教案

【教学目标】

    ●知识目标

      1. Master the new words and useful expressions.

       2. Master some useful sentence structures.

能力目标

       Get students able to talk about the process of making a banana milk shake.

     ●情感目标

       Encourage students to experience more and enrich their life.

【教学重难点】

     重点

       1. Master the new words and useful expressions.

         Words and expressions: shake, milk shake, blender, turn on, peel, pour, yogurt, honey, watermelon, spoon, pot, add, finally, salt.

       2. Master some useful sentence structures.

         How do you make a banana milk shake? 

          First, peel the bananas

        How many bananas do we need?

          We need three bananas.

        How much yogurt do we need?

           We need one cup of yogurt.

   难点

       Learn to describe process and follow the instructions.

     A tape recorder, a projector and handouts.

     任务型教学法、情景交际法、自主学习与合作学习相结合

【课时安排】

     One period

【教学过程】

     Step 1: Warm-up

        1. Ask students what's their favorite fruit? And what's their favorite drink?

       2. Ask the students to work with their partners and make conversations.

        3. Invite several pairs to act out their conversations.

        4. Ask students to discuss how to make a banana milk shake and the ingredients we need.

        5. Show some pictures on the screen and tell students the steps of making a banana milk shake.

       6. Explain some important new words.

    Step 2: Presentation

    1. Teach activity 1a

      (1) Tell students that today we are going to learn how to make a banana milk shake. Ask students to guess how many bananas do we need? And how much milk do we need?

      (2) Show the pictures to students, and makes students know the process of making milk shake. Then write down the key words on the blackboard.

       Key words and phrases: how much, how many, wash, first, one box of, bananas, peel, then, cut up, next, put...into blender, after that, turn on..., last.

      (3) Ask students to write the words in the box of 1a in the blanks in the pictures above.

      (4) Check the correct answers with the class.

      (5) Teach the names of all items. Point to the pictures of the items and ask students to repeat.

      (6) Lead the students to read the following actions.

         Actions: peel the bananas, cut up the bananas, put the bananas in the blender, pour the milk in the blender, turn on the blender, drink the milk shake.

        

    2. Teach activity 1b

      (1) Point out the actions in the picture and the list of actions in activity 1b .

      (2) Play the recording and ask students to listen and put the instructions in order.

      (3) Check the correct answers.

      (4) Ask students to recite the conversation at once.

    3. Teach activity 1c

      (1) Let students read the model with a partner.

         A: How do you make a banana milk shake?

         B: First, peel the bananas... 

      (2) Ask students to use the information in 1b. Ask and answer with a partner.

      (3) Invite some pairs to ask and answer about the chart.

    Step 3: Practice

    1. Teach activity 2a

      (1) Ask students to look at the pictures below and invite one student to read the words in the pictures if necessary.

    (2) Play the recording for the students to listen and complete the chart.

    (3) Play the recording again to check the answers.

  2. Teach activity 2b

    (1) Ask students to read the chart below. And tell students to write the ingredient under the correct amount in the chart. 

    (2) Play the recording for students to write the correct answers in the chart. 

    (3) Play the recording again to check the answers.

  3. Teach activity 2c

    (1) Tell students to ask and answer questions about how to make fruit salad. 

    (2) Give a model to the students. 

       A: Let's make fruit salad.

       B: OK, good idea. How much yogurt do we need?

       A: One cup.

       B: How many apples do we need?

       A: let me think... We need two apples.

       B: OK, and how much...

   (3) Students work in pairs and try to ask and answer about how to make fruit salad.

   (4) Ask some pairs to act out their conversations.

  Step 4: Consolidation

  Teach activity 2d

   1. Ask students to read the conversations and fill in the chart below.

   2. Explain some new words and main points in the conversation.

   3. Let students read the conversation after the teacher. 

   4. Ask students to practice the conversation with their partner. Then let some pairs to act out the conversation.

【课后作业】

    Write a passage about how to make banana milk shake.
