1.Focus their attention on the teacher. Answer the questions:

2.Change the verbs into their past forms.

1.Greet students commonly. Revise the useful expressions they have learned. 

2.Show some verbs on the screen and choose some students to change them into past forms.(复习规则动词的一般过去时)

1.State something about Kangkang’s birthday and ask the question: How did they celebrate Kangkang’s birthday? Do you know? Show the pictures in 1a and let students predict the passage.

2.Let some students play the game—Musical Chairs.

3.Play the tape and let students read after the tape.

4.Point out the key words and sentences in 1a on the screen: What’s the matter? Did you hurt yourself?

fall down, miss the chair, hurt oneself ...

5.Give students some time to read the passage in pairs and choose some groups to read the passage.

Consolidation (8 minutes)

1.Individual work and the whole class work.

1.Do 1b. Check what happened to Michael at the party. Check the answers together.

2.Point out the key words and phrases in 1a.

3.Do 1c. Make up a short passage orally.

1.Give students some time to do 1b by themselves and check the answers together.

2.Let students point out the key words and phrases in 1a. Then show them on the screen.

3.Let students make up a short passage according to the key words and phrases in 1a.

Practice

(10 minutes)

1.Individual work and pair work.

2.Individual work and the whole class work.

1.Do 2a by  yourselves. Then listen and check the answers; Listen again and read after the tape; Read the dialog in pairs.

2.Do 2b. Fill in the blanks. Then check the answers in 2b. Finally, make a summary about it.

1.Let students do 2a by themselves first without listening. Play the tape and let students check their answers, paying attention to the past forms. Play the tape again and let students follow the tape. Give students some time to read 2a in pairs.

2.Let students fill in the blanks by themselves first; Choose some students to check the answers and pay attention to the words in the blanks; Finally, let students make a summary about the past forms of the verbs they have learned.

Production

(6 minutes)

Group work.

Make a table about the past forms of the verbs in groups;

Then make a passage using the words in the table; Finally, report your passages to the class.

1.Write down the words and make a table on the screen. Give students 3 mins to make up a passage with the words in the table in groups. Then choose some groups to report their passages.

2. Assign the homework:

Review the key words and useful expressions in Section B;

Make up a passage about your birthday party;

Preview the words and 1a in Section C.
