Unit 1 My name’s Gina.

                     

Analysis of the teaching material

 

1.      The content of this class is<<Go for it>> Book 1 Unit1 Section A 1a-2c. The main topic of this class is “to ask sb’s name and greet people”.

2. Teaching Objects:

(1). Knowledge Objects:

To use the target languages

  What’s your/his/her name? I’m/He’s/She’s….

  Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you, too.

(2). Ability Objects:

   (1)How to make friends politely

   (2)To get some listening and communicative skills

(3).Moral Objects:

  (1)Learn to enjoy the company of friends.

  (2)To be a polite student.

3. Teaching key points

1To master the target languages

2To train the students to make new friends politely and confidently.

4. Teaching difficult points:

To use possessive adjectives: my, your, his, her and pronouns: I, you, he, she correctly.

 

Analysis of Teaching Methods and Studying Methods

 

1. Teaching Methods

According to new curriculum “The class should begin from the students’ study interest, life experience and the cognitive level.” I mainly use Audio-visual teaching methodtask-based teaching method and cooperative teaching method

2. Studying Methods

Imitation: At the beginning of the class, I let students enjoy a short movie and then they imitate it, so they can experience the target languages.

   Pair work: The students can master the target languages by pair work.  They can also know how to cooperate with others.

 

Teaching Procedures

 

1. Lead-in. I ask students to enjoy a short movie. Then make a dialogue with a student to lead in the target language “What’s your name?”

2. In this part, I show some boys’ pictures on the screen to lead in the target language, “What’s his name?” and its answer. Then the students practice this target language with their partners.

3. Then I show some girls’ pictures on the screen. By practicing the target language “What’s her name?”  The students know when to use “his and he” and when to use “her and she”. All the girls are from their classmates. So they are very excited to see these pictures.

4.Listening practice

This part is to improve their listening ability.

5. Exercises:

   In this part, I show some famous people’s pictures then ask them to fill in the blanks so that they can master the target languages well. They can also have a better understanding about possessive adjectives and pronouns.

6. Lucky number:

   It’s a lucky number game. The students can have a better understanding of the important points in this class. The students can also experience the joy of learning English.

7. Summary:

  I ask some students to tell me what they learned in this class in order to cultivate their ability to conclude knowledge.

8. Exercises:

   At the end of this class I will show some exercises about the important language points in this class. In this way, I know whether the students understand this class.

 

四.Blackboard design

 

         What is your/his/her name?

         My name’s...  = I am….

         His name’s … = He is…

         Her name’s…= She is…

         Nice to meet you.

         Nice to meet you, too.

These are the important language points in this class. The students must master them. And the whole class I design it from “your” to “ his and her”. It just accords with the students’ cognition level. The whole class, students do a lot of practice and dialogues about the target languages and possessive adjectives. So after this class, the students can know how to use them correctly.

 

五.Evaluation:

 

After this class, I showed the following chart to the students. From this chart, I can know whether the students master this class. And I can also know what I should do next class.

六. Reflection:

 This class nearly completes my designing aim. However, there are few students can’t understand the usages of some possessive adjectives and pronouns. If I had this class once again, I would do more exercises about them.
