一、教学目标

1、语言知识目标

  1)学习掌握下列词汇:object、magic、stick、hide、tail、turn...into...、  

     excite、western.

  2)阅读短文,能按要求找到相应信息。

  3)通过阅读提高学生的阅读能力。

  4)了解《西游记》中美猴王这一人物的大致情况。

2、情感态度价值观目标

    多阅读中国传统文学名著,让学生明白中国传统文化的博大精

    深,并汲取中国传统文化中的精髓。

二、教学重·难点

1、教学重点

  1)掌握本部分出现的生词和词组,达到熟练运用的目标。

  2)阅读短文,获得相关信息。通过阅读练习来提高学生的阅读能

     力。

2、教学难点

  1)提高阅读短文并获得相关信息的能力。

  2)理解并运用所学的词汇及表达方式。

三、教学过程

Step1. Pre-reading.

1. Get Ss to watch a video and answer the questions:

  1).Who is he in the video?

  2). Do you like him?

2. Lead Ss to look at the theme picture and ask:

  1). Who are they?

  2). What are they doing?

  3). Where are they?

Step2. While-reading

1. Skimming. Read the passage quickly and find out:

  1). Which book is talked about?

  2). Who is the main character?

  3). What is he like?

2. Careful-reading. Read paragraph 1 carefully and finish the   

   Tasks below:

  1).What happened in November 1979?

  2).What does the word “them” in paragraph 1,line 3 refer to?

  A. pupils in English B. Chinese children.

C. monkeys.         D. bad people.

3. Group-work.

    Work in groups of 4 or 6 to discuss: What do you know about

     Monkey King? The following questions may help :

    1). What does he look like?

    2). Is he a normal monkey?

    3). What is his weapon(武器)?

    4). What can he do?

    5). What can’t he do?

  ‚ Watch the videos to get the exact answers and learn the key words

    and phrases.

    Video1 →  turn... into...、object、hide、tail.

    Video2 →  magic、stick.

    Video3 →  so...that...、at other times、be able to、keep...in...

  ƒ No one can be perfect, neither can Monkey King. Get Ss to   

     complete the chart of 3b together.

4. Read Paragraph 3 and answer the question:

    Why are western children interested in reading about the Monkey King?

  T:He also excited western children so much.   (excite)

Step3. Post-reading.

1. Strike while the iron is hot. Choose the best answer.

  1). Which of the following is correct to describe Monkey King?

 A. He is a normal monkey.

 B. He is a real monkey.

 C. He is a real man.

 D. He is the main character in the book Journey to the West.

  2).What does the word “object”mean in paragraph 2?

3. T: In fact, there are other characters in Journey to the West.

     Who are they?

   (Present the pictures of Tang Monk、Piggie、Sha Monk.)

   T: Different characters in this book have different features and   

     qualities. But don’t forget another one important role. He also plays

     an important role in it. Who is he?

2).Ask Ss to talk about White-horse with the information in pairs.

   3).Show-time. Ask several Ss to read out their talking results.

Step4. Extension.

1. T: What other characters and famous novels do you know?

        1).Read more Chinese Classics.

        2).Spread Chinese traditional culture to the world.

1. Finish 3c on page 43.

2. Complete the mind-map.
