Step 1 Warming-up

1.Learn words by the following way.





Learn the way of remembering words and find more examples. 

2.Let some students report what he/she does on weekends.

Step 2 Presentation

  1.The teacher shows some pictures of food and drinks on the big screen. Students read the words, and discuss whether they are healthy or not. 

2.Read the words with the pictures in 1a, and match the words with the pictures. 

Step 3 Find

1.Show a list of words of food and drinks on the big screen. Then list them into “healthy” or “unhealthy”. 

2.Check the answers with the students.

3.Ask and answer questions about the pictures in 1a. Make a model to the students.

T: How often do you drink milk, S1?

S1: I drink milk every day.

T: Do you like it?

S1: No. But my mother wants me to drink it. She says it's good for my health.

Step 4 Listening

Work on 1c:

Tell students that a reporter is interviewing Bill and Tina about their daily habits. Ask them to listen to the recording and find the answer to these two questions: Does Tina have good habits? Does Bill have good habits? 


Work on 1d:

First, let one student read the sentences and try to get the meaning of the sentences.

Then play the recording for the first time, and students just listen to it. Play the tape for the second time for the students to listen to and write down the answers.

(听力指导:学生带着问题听对话。听录音时,应重点将与这六个问题相关的内容听清,其他作为非重点内容。)

Step 5 Pair-work 

1.Work in pairs. Student A is the reporter. Student B is Tina or Bill. Ask and answer questions. Then change roles.

A: How often do you exercise?

B: I exercise every day?

A: And how often do you…?

2.The teacher can walk around the classroom, and give help to the students.

Step 1 Lead-in

Do a guess game.

Ask one student to act some activity and ask the other students to guess what it is.

Step 2 Reading (见素材三)

T: Here are the results of what the students in No. 5 High School do in their free time. Read the passage quickly and find out the answers to the two questions:

1.How many kinds of free time activities are mentioned in the passage?

Step 3 Cooperative work

1.Read the passage carefully and complete the pie charts in 2b.

2.Let students read through the five questions in 2c. Make sure the students know the meaning of the questions. Then let students read the passage again and try to find out the answers to the questions.

Step 4 Practice

Work on 2d:

1.Let the students make some sentences with the percentages using always, usually or sometimes. 

2.Ask the students to pay attention to always, usually, sometimes and the corresponding numbers (对应百分数). Then, find the relative activities. Finally,make correct sentences.

3.Students read the passage again and try to make some new sentences. Check the answers with other students. 

Work on 2e:

1.Let students read through the activities in the chart first. Choose one activity from them. Then ask the other students how often they do this activity and make a pie chart. 

2.Students work in groups. Ask and answer questions, and fill in the chart. 

3.Make a pie chart like that in 2b. 

4.Show the pie chart to the class.

Step 5 Exercise

Let the students have a discussion about their habits and fill in the chart.

1.Have a dictation of the words and expressions learned in the last class. 

2.Let some students read the passage in 2b.

Step 2 Presentation

1.Show some pictures of your daily activities. Tell students your good activities and bad activities. 

2.Let some students tell about how often they do some activities and judge whether they are good or bad habits.

Step 3 Practice (3a)

1.Look at the information in the chart and complete the report. 

2.The teacher can give some advice before students do the work.

First, pay attention to the Activities and the Days a year. Make sure thefrequency of each activity.

3.Students read the passage, and fill in the blanks with the words in the box. 

4.Check the answers.

Step 4 Writing

Work on 3b:

1.Complete the chart with your own information. In the last column, use expressions like always, every day, twice a week and never. 

2.Then let some students show their charts to the class.

Work on 3c:

1.Let students write a report about their good and bad habits and say how often they do things, using the report in 3a as an example. 

2.Writing guide:

(1)First, write some sentences about habits according to the chart.

(2)Second, write the good habits first, then the bad ones; and make them in correct order. What's more, you should use some conjunctions correctly, such as however, also, etc.

3.Check the composition and let some students read their compositions.

Step 5 Quiz

1.Tell every student to take the health quiz. Compare his/her results with his/her partner's. Who's healthier?

2.Read the quiz and the chart first and make sure all the students know how to take the health quiz. 

3.Work in groups and take the quiz in every group. See who is healthier?

Step 6 Self Check

Self Check 1 and 2:

1.Let students talk about the activities they do and don't do or their parents do  and don't do and make a chart.

2.Let some students read their charts aloud. Then ask the students to try to write five sentences using the information above. 

3.Make sure they use the correct form of the verbs.

Self Check 3:

1.Tell students that they should read the conversation and then fill in the blanks with the right form of the words. 

2.Students read the conversation and try to fill in the blanks. 

3.Check the answers:

4.Let students practice the conversation with their partner.
