一、教学目标
语言知识目标：学生完成本课学习后，能够对基本的单词认识或掌握：如：burn, skin, bandage, swell, blisters, char, treatment, mild, damage, place, tissue.
语言技能目标：
1.培养学生的阅读能力，尤其是获取文章大意及找到具体信息并处理信息的能力；
2.学会带有小标题的说明性文章的阅读技巧；
情感态度目标：通过小组讨论、合作共同寻找解决问题方案，学会利用所学知识进行自我急救和帮助别人。培养学生在面对困难和危险时能临危不乱，冷静思考，找出解决问题的最好办法。
学习策略目标：学生能够调控自己的学习行为和方法，进行小组合作学习。
二、新设计
英语新课程标准倡导任务型的教学模式，让学生在教师的指导下，通过感知，体验, 实践，参与和合作等方式，实现任务目标，感受成功。在学习过程中进行情感和策略调整，以形成积极的学习态度，促进语言实际运用能力的提高。这就要求教师能根据学习内容设计相应的活动，让学生在体验中掌握语言知识，学会运用语言，培养各种技能。本单元Reading部分首先陈述皮肤对人体的重要性,然后介绍烫伤的各种起因、几种不同程度的烫伤以及它们所表现出来的主要症状和所应采取的急救措施。由于所学内容接近生活，实用性和操作性强，因此在教学过程中创设实际教学情景，布置任务，让学生在理解文章内容的基础上，针对生活中常见的各种紧急情况， 运用所学知识实施紧急救护。 通过实践和参与， 掌握本课时的语言技能，语言知识，培养学生处理紧急事件的应变能力和操作能力，实现英语新课程的教学目标。
语言教育研究者Scrivener强调，在真实阅读中，读者的阅读目的往往是娱乐性的，或为了得到泛泛的信息而读；当遇到生词或与阅读目的不相关的细节信息时，往往一带而过，只在发生阅读障碍时才对这些内容进行回读。因此在真实阅读中，读者主要采用的是“top-down” 的方法。而课堂教学的最终目的应是提高学生的真实语言运用能力。因此，本课设置了略读获取主旨大意(gist reading)和找读获取细节(reading for detail)两大类型的阅读任务，二者均属于“top-down” skills。除在正式阅读前呈现影响学生阅读的相关新词汇外，对不构成阅读障碍的其他新词和语言结构不做统一讲解。
三、学情分析
本班是普通班，只有一部分学生对英语学习有兴趣，平时阅读量少，阅读水平比较低。阅读文章时也通常时从头到尾分段读，对生词比较多的文章，学生阅读的准确性也不高。在提取、分析、加工细节信息等技能方面则还需教师的引领及指导。
四、重点难点
教学重点：学生掌握略读和找读的方法策略并按此完成指定的主旨阅读任务和细节阅读任务。
教学难点：学生在准确选取、加工关键词，表达急救步骤方面可能会面临困难，出现选词不准、概括不全或重复概括一个方面的特点等问题。
五、教学过程
步骤1： Lead in  (2 minutes)
Look at the picture and ask students to speak out some tools of first aid. Then show them some new words about burns. 用课件呈现本单元涉及到的新词及学生不够熟悉的其他词汇： skin, bandage, scissors, swell, blisters, char, layer, nerve, type of burns
设计意图：采用抢答形式，让学生形象、直观地感受first aid，从而自然导入新课,激发学生的学习兴趣。同时，这一环节能够帮助学生学习新的词汇。
步骤2：Pre-reading（3 minutes）
Present a picture and ask: What will you do in this case? Then ask them to discuss in groups. Choose one member to give the answers like: First, remove the girl. Second, cool the burn. Then send her to hospital. (Answers can vary.) 学生回答过程中，教师板书关键词。
设计意图：这一环节利用教材中的图片是学生思考如何进行烫伤急救，使学生带着问题自然过渡到下一个环节，为阅读做好思想上的准备。
步骤3： Gist reading  (5 minutes)
Make the students skim the passage in limited time and get a general idea of the passage. Then do the following
exercises. 给学生20秒阅读问题，带着任务进行阅读。

设计意图：使学生熟悉急救流程，掌握关键动词，为下一步的输出做准备。
步骤5：Post reading
任务一：根据上面的图示，两人一组练习烧伤急救的步骤，然后找同学到前面演示
设计意图：学生在前几个环节中已有足够的读和听的输入的情况下，进行“说”和“表演”的语言输出活动。培养学生用英语交际的能力。
任务二：让一些同学表演课本P35四种烧伤急救的做法然后让学生判断这些做法是否正确，如果错误要说明理由并改正。
设计意图：这一阶段是语言输出阶段。阅读的目的在于应用。这一阶段重在于培养学生用英语分析问题和解决问题的能力。错误之处用红色标出，能更吸引学生的注意力。
步骤6： Homework

设计意图：通过本节课的学习，学生已经基本掌握烧伤急救的知识，设置课文缩写填空练习使学生将进一步内化课堂所学。让同学们找更多关于急救的信息在下次课展示可以激发学生学习英语急救知识的热情，学到更多关于急救的生活技能。
