Unit 4 How do you get to school ?

一、教材分析

(一)教学内容分析

  本单元的教学重点是谈论交通方式。围绕How do you get to school? How does he\she get to school? 等话题展开,讨论人们日常生活中上学、上班等的交通方式,学习行为动词的一般现在时。

  Section A部分从学习交通工具入手谈论学生上学的方式、上学所需时间,并以人物LiLei 为例阅读有关LiLei的信息.

  Section B部分通过描述Nina这个人物的信息来谈论多种交通方式,学习时间、距离的表达法,并阅读有关世界不同地区学生的上学方式。

二、教学准备

1、用多媒体辅助教学,教学前先做好课件,设置好图片和备用的表格。

2、学生分组。   小组划分方法有:

1)依学生的具体情况划分。

(年龄、性别、能力、性格等)

2)依任务难易划分。

3)依学生的人际关系划分。

4)随机抽样划分。

三、学情分析

1、学生前面已学习过一般现在时的肯定句、否定句、疑问句及其回答,部分交通工具也学习过,因此为这节课完成任务打下了一定的基础。

2、通过本单元的学习,学生能描述他们家离学校的距离,所需时间的长短,所用的交通工具等,并根据具体情况作出反应。这些话题来源于现实,贴近学生生活,学生爱学,教师易于组织课堂教学,开展听、说、读、写等活动。

四、教学原则

1、运用任务型教学途径,培养学生实际运用语言的能力。

2、设计形式多样的学习活动,激发学生学习英语的兴趣,促进学生实践能力和思维能力的发展。

3、借助多媒体,提高课堂效率。

4、设计多种表格,有利于提高学生分析问题和解决问题的能力。

五、教学目标

(一)知识目标

1、学习行为动词的一般现在时。

2、学习和掌握必要的词汇、句型及交际功能用语。

3、进一步培养听、说、读、写能力。

4、培养学生的实践能力和创造能力。

(二)情感态度

1、培养学生助人为乐的精神。

2、培养学生的合作意识。

3、学生通过完成任务体验成功的快乐。

三)学习策略

1、指导学法,使学生会学。

2、善于乐于与他人合作并用英语和他人交流。

(四)文化意识

1、激发学生对英语文化的求知欲,并鼓励他们与该文化的人有所共鸣,了解国外学生的学习生活。

2、让学生了解国外的交通方式。

六、评价方式

  本单元以形成性评价和终结性评价相结合的原则。

形成性评价:学生参与课堂活动的积极态度、语言表达的熟练程度、思想观点的新颖程度、小组中的合作精神等。可包括自我评价、小组评价和教师评价。

终结性评价:以单元测试为主。

八、教学步骤    

Period One

Task: Make a survey showing how the students in your group get to  school.

Step1: Warming-up

1.Sing the “Hello” song.

2.Greetings.

Step 2:Pre-task

1.       Guessing games: Show the students some pictures about the transportation, then let the students guess: How do they get to school?

Teach: train, subway, car, boat……\take the subway\train\bus\…

go by boat\bike\car\on foot    ,  walk

2.Look, listen and write.

Section A 1a(for writing), 1b(for listening)

 3.Teach the patterns:

A: How do you get to school?        B: I take the train.

A: How does he\she get to school? B: He\she takes the bus

Step3: While-task

1.Pair work: discuss the questions above, first in pairs, then in groups. Ask some students to act it out.

2.Listen and learn.

Section A2a(for listening), 2b (for learning)

3. Pair work: Talk about how the students in their group get to school and how long it takes, then make a chart like this:

Step4: Post-task

Report the results to the class.

Step 5: Homework

Look through the results of the other groups to learn the information about them.

Period Two

Task: write a report to describe somebody how to get to school, including the distance from the school and the time that it takes.

Step 1:Warming-up

1.Games: guess the means of the transportation by showing the station of it.

2.Pair work: Talk about how to get to school.

Step2: Pre-task

1.Show the chart that was made by the students in one group, then ask and answer: How does he\she get to school? How long does it take?

2.Practice the dills by exchanging the patterns:

How do you get to school? How far is it? How long does it take?

Step3 While-task

1.Pair work    Section A 3b

Look the pictures, ask and answer the questions.

Work in pairs, then act it out in class.

2.Reading: Section A3a

Answer the questions on this page.

3.Pair work: Section B 1b    (Role play)

 Suppose you use two kinds of transportation to get to school (bus, train, subway, walking, bike…), tell how you get to school.

4.Listen.  Section B2a, 2b choose the right route .

5.write a report telling how Nina gets to school.

Step 4 post-task

Report to the class. Check the answer.

Step 5  Homework

 Write a report telling a student in your class how he\she gets to school and other information about his\her home.

Period Three

Task: Make a survey to make a chart showing that how the students in your class get to school.

Step 1:warming-up

1.Show a chart, ask and answer using “how”, “how far”, “how long”

2.Ask and answer: How does your father /mother \uncle\aunt go to work?

Step2: Pre-task

 1.Puzzles:If it is1-2miles (3-5 miles……) from your home to your school, how will you get to school? Why?

2.Teach: depend on…     How can we get to some places? It depends on where we are. But how the students around the world get to school? Please read the following passage.

Step 3  While-task

1.Read the passage.    Section B3a.

九、教学后记

本单元通过交谈上学的方式来学习有关交通方面的知识,复习一般现在时的使用,使学生能根据日常生活谈论与自己密切相关的话题,学生基本上能做到有话可说,有事可做,能在真实的环境中交际,在做事的过程中学习英语,使用英语,体现了任务型教学的教学原则。
