教材分析

 本课时以ART 为主题，主要介绍了西方绘画简史，西方各种艺术形式与风格，不同时代的著名画家以及他们的作品。帮助学生了解更多的有关美术的背景知识，分析中西艺术史上各大流派的特点，指出其代表性的画家和作品，培养学生对艺术的兴趣以及理解美、欣赏美、创造美的能力。

大多数学生来自农村, 基础差, 词汇量少, 基础比较薄弱，大部分学生的听说读写各方面的能力有待加强，特别是口语和听力。

学生已学过本单元Warming up的内容，已初步了解了艺术的含义和各种艺术形式，以及能用简单的英语来谈论一些中西方著名的绘画作品。

教学设计思路

本节课按照教学内容分为引入主题—略读以及细读课文— 概括课文—阅读后的演讲—作业五大块，五大块按照具体的教学任务的要求又细分为各个细小的教学活动,通过各个细小的教学任务的完成。以学生为中心，逐步引导学生阅读并完成各项内容，体现任务型教学在阅读课中的贯彻，并且通过穿插其中的生动活泼的教学活动，使学生享受阅读带来的乐趣，在教学中努力培养学生的语言运用能力。

Step 1

Lead-in

1)      Let the students enjoy some pictures and tell which form of art each picture belongs to.

2）Ask the students some questions to introduce the terms “works of art” and “art gallery”.

3) Let the students enjoy pictures of excellent works of art taken in a gallery.

4) Ask the students to focus on a realistic painting and ask them a question: Do you think this is a picture taken by a camera or a painting?

5) Introduce one characteristic of modern art and ask the students whether they know some more characteristics of modern art.

引导学生观察图片，通过讨论并做出判断这些图片分别属于哪种艺术形式，复习上节课的内容，为下文介绍艺术作品作铺垫，充满时代感和贴近学生生活的图片可以激发学生的学习兴趣, 迅速抓住学生的眼球。

向学生展示一幅幅优秀的艺术作品，使学生了解不同风格的绘画作品，激发学生对艺术的热爱。让学生观察一些非常逼真的现代艺术绘画作品，使他们初步了解这个时期的绘画风格，切入主题，激发学生学习本课内容的欲望。

Reading

Task 1 Skimming

1)Skim the text and find out the main idea of the text.

Tell the students how to get the main idea of the text

2)Answer a question:

How many styles of Western painting are mentioned in the text? What are they?

Task 2 Detailed reading

1)Read the second paragraph and find out the characteristics of the paintings in the Middle Ages (fill in the chart).

2)Read Paras 3 & 4 and find the key information about the Renaissance.

3)Read Paras 5 & 6 silently and find out the characteristics of the Impressionist paintings（ fill in the blanks）.

4) Read the last paragraph and find out the characteristics of modern art (fill in the chart).

通过Skimming(略读)这种阅读技巧让学生找出文中主题句和关键词，既能激发学生探究问题，又能引导学生归纳主题，有助于培养学生的快速阅读技巧，提高阅读理解能力，帮助学生从整体上理解课文。

考虑到课文篇幅较长，生词也较多，但是文章的结构非常清晰，分段阅读比较适合学生，也有利于降低阅读任务的难度。

在学习西方绘画艺术的各个历史发展时期的不同风格时，设计不同类型的阅读任务帮助学生快速寻找特定信息，了解阅读内容的概要，更好地理解文章的内容。

所给出的任务是根据本节课内容而设计的,目的是进一 步巩固学生所学知识。做好巩固环节可以加深对课文的理解，使 学生有机会训练刚学的知识。这种方法把课文内容以另一种形式再现，可以活跃课堂气氛，发展学生的语言运用能力，培养创造性。学生通过合作讨论, 完成任务, 培养了学生的团队合作意识, 同时锻炼语言运用能力, 体现了以学生为本”和“课堂有效性”。

结束语是一种价值观的渗透，提示学生在生活中热爱艺术，享受生活。实现价值观目标。

1. Try to retell the history of western painting using five sentences.

2. Write a short passage about your favorite artist and introduce one of his masterpieces.

这是本节阅读课的一个拓展延伸，一方面有助于帮助学生巩固课本的知识，另一方面又培养了学生的语言运用能力。
